Paddling marathon “ Aiviekste 2014”

RACE RULES

1. Place and time of race
1.1. Date and time: 27.09.2014., start at 12:00.
1.2. Registration starts at 10:30-11:30 at a start area.
1.3. All kind of boats has the same start and finish place (see map on http://goo.gl/GjFD3Z). Start time is one for all classes.
1.4. Control time is 6 hours after start.

2. Participants
2.1. Competition participant can be anyone who are aware of their ability to carry out distance, agrees the regulation role, have completed the application and paid the entry fee.
2.2 Participants under the age of 18 years may participate only in the same boat with one of their parents or their authorized person.
2.3 Transportation to the start area and to the finish shall be provided by participant or his support team.
2.4 Participants shall provide the necessary race equipment by themselves.
2.5 Participants are responsible to make sure that their health codition allows to participate in the competition at increased physical activity level.
2.6 Participation in the marathon is not allowed if organizers have suspected that participant is under alcohol, drugs or psychotropic substances affect.

3. Terms
3.1. During the event all participants must wear a safety vest (PFD). If the participant will be seen without PFD, he will be disqualified.
3.2. It is not allowed to shorten the distance. Breaker of this rule will be disqualified.
3.3. Compulsory equipment:
-Safety vest (PFD);
-Mobile phone with a fully charged battery and with the number of organizers. Waterproof package for phone;
- Drinking water and enough food for complete distance;
-First aid kit (and personal medications if necessary);
-Spare clothing (waterproof packed).
Organizers determine necessary equipment on the basis of their experiences. Participants have the right and duty to take up the additional safety equipment (such as helmet, etc.), if it is necessary for them.
3.4. Liability of participants
Competition requires physical strength of the participants. All members are fully responsible for their safety and their own action during the race, and are aware that the organizers shall not be liable in any way for their possible injuries, health and life as well as damage to equipment or loss.
3.5. Help during the race
Participants are obliged to help the team in any accident (capsized boat, health problems etc.). For not giving a help to other participants emergency situation, team will be disqualified. In this situation everyone must report to the organizers the number of team in emergency and number of assisting team.

4. Withdrawal
If participant wants to withdraw, then do it in a place where you can be picked up (access to bridge, road). Participant must immediately inform organizers about withdrawal.

5. Boat classes
5.1. Single and double kayaks- K1 and K2;
5.2. Single and double canoe- C-1 and C-2;
5.3. SUP boards: SUP-M (men), SUP-W (women).

6. Application
6.1. In order to qualify, participants must fill out an application form at http://airesana.lv/aam2014_dal_registracija
6.2. Online registration is available by 26.09.2014.
6.3. Registration on race day can be made from 10:30–11:30 at start area, but entry fee on that day can be paid in cash only.
6.4. All registered participants will be published at airesana.lv .
6.5. By registration all participants confirm, that they have read and will comply with race rules. Participants are responsible for the information given in their application.
6.6. Entry fee will not be returned to participants who will not participate in the competition for any reason or who will be disqualified.
6.7. Entry fee will be used for organization of competition– staff, transportation costs, camping / sauna rent costs, equipment for start and finish places, awards and dinner.

7. Awarding
7.1. Awarding will be started 2 hours after the first participant finish.
7.2 All participants will get diploma and souvenirs.
7.3 First place owerall will be awarded with challenge cup.
7.4. Sauna and a hot dinner will be provided immediately after the finish.

8. Additional information
8.1. Participants, who wish to arrive the night before, are welcome to stay in camping at finish place (inform organizers if you want to use camping).
8.2. Information about camping:
Camping is 30 km from start. Camping has 2 cabins, well arranged rest place, electricity, tent (~ 50 persons, 3 closed walls), trampoline, celebration hall (~ 20 persons), sauna, trailer connection, tent places, picnic places, swimming place, boat rental, fishing, sport game fields, children play places.
