First Sea Kayak Marathon „Vistula Lagoon Ribbon”

Event objectives:
Unsupported paddling of the 42.5 Nm distance in the shortest possible time.
Date and place of the event:
12th July 2014. Waters of Vistula Lagoon
In case of unfavourable weather conditions, (the wind above 20 knots measured at the starting time) the race will take place on13th July 2014.
Start:
A mandatory for all competitors equipment inspection will be held an hour before the start. The participant, who failed the inspection by the main judge, will not be allowed to take part in the race.
Start 12th July 2014, at 0800 in Nadbrzeże Port. Starting line is marked by flagged posts, on both sides of the port canal. Starting line can be crossed after the starting signal. False started kayaks must withdraw beyond starting line and cross again after the signal.
Starting signals:
5 minutes to start – a horn
1 minute to start –a bell
Start – a horn
Course:
The course goes around Vistula Lagoon and the portside bypassing of the following buoys is required:
► Buoy „3” Tolkmicko farwater.
► Buoy „3/F” Frombork farwater .
► Buoy „3” Nowa Pasłęka farwater
► Buoy „3” Piaski farwater
► Buoy „KM-E” next to Krynica Morska farwater
► Buoy „K-4” Kąty Rybackie farwater
Finish:
Finish line is the same as starting line.
Finish line will close after double time of the winner.

1. REGISTRATION:

Application shall include:
personal data (name, address, PESEL ,phone number- that will be used by the participant during the event, t-shirt size )
Registration fee – 50 PLZ

2. CONDITIONS:
2.1. Only persons of age with the ability to swim and sea kayaking experience can participate.
2.2. Participants can start in one of classes: K1K, K1M, K2K, K2M, K2Mix. The minimum of three boats is required to open the class, otherwise participant will be classified in general classification.

3. EQUIPMENT:
3.1. Sea kayak.
Sea kayak is meant to be one of any construction kayak equipped with: a cockpit with a spraydeck, two separate, integral flotation chambers, deck rigging consisting of at least perimeter line. Additionally „surf ski” or „sit on top” kayaks can be used, as long as they are equipped with an attached to kayaker leash.
3.2. Additional compulsory equipment
1. PFD (a kayaker must wear it on all the time).
2. Emergency communication equipment. One of: waterproof VHF, cell phone with set speed dial to SAR Tolkmicko and organizer, PLB, SPOT, or any other accepted by main judge.
3. Compass
4. Suitable outfit. Due to the extent of the basin, participant must be prepared to spend 1h in a water, after the help call.
5. Headlamp
6. Each competitor is required to wear provided by the organizer T-shirt, with starting number.

4. QUITTING THE RACE:
Resigning participant must contact the organizer immediately, to inform.
In case of quitting the race in different than Stanica Wodna in Nadbrzeże place, it is the participant's responsibility to provide a transportation to the base.

5. DISQUALIFICATION
The participant will be disqualified for:
1. The use of any help from people not taking part in the race.
2. Intentional or accidental shortening of the course
3. Incomplete mandatory equipment
4. The use of alcohol during the race.

6. PROTESTS
Only participant who has completed the race may submit the protest
Protest must be reported while crossing the finish line.
Protests will be dealt with an hour after closing the finish line.

7. ORGANIZER SERVICES :
Within the registration fee participants receive:
1. insurance,
2. a map
3. a place on the campsite
4. warm meal
5. starting number T-shirt.

8. AWARDS
Awards will be granted for the first three competitors in each category.
Additionally, awards drawing (among players who have completed race in regular time) has been planned.
The award ceremony will take place after the closing of the finish line.
